WHAT IS CHEMICAL PEEL?

A chemical peel is a Non-invasive skincare treatment that involves applying a solution to the skin to exfoliate its outer layers. This process effectively helps remove dead skin cells That Can Accumulate On The Skin’s Surface, Which Often Leads To A Dull Appearance And Can Contribute To Various Skin Issues Such As Clogged Pores And Uneven Texture. the chemical solution stimulates the skin’s natural regeneration process, prompting the production of new, healthy skin cells. This renewal not only enhances the skin's overall texture and tone but also promotes a more youthful and radiant appearance, as the new skin is often smoother, clearer and more vibrant in appearance.

Who Is Chemical Peels For?

Chemical peels are suitable for a wide range of individuals looking to enhance their skin’s appearance.

    •  Skin Renewal: Individuals looking to Improve Skin Texture and refresh their complexion.

    • Acne or Acne Scars: Those struggling with active acne or post-acne scars to help clear pores and promote healing.

    • Sun Damage: Individuals with sun spots, discolouration, or other signs of sun damage to improve skin tone and clarity.

    • Concerned About Aging: Those wanting to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin to stimulate skin’s natural regeneration process, promoting the production of new, healthy skin cells.

    • Uneven Skin Tone: Inidividuals dealing with hyperpigmentation to enhance the skin’s ability to retain moisture and benefit from brightening effects of chemical peels

Types of Chemical Peels

  • Light Peels: use mild acids (like alpha hydroxy acids) to gently exfoliate the skin’s surface to target skin texture, dullness, and uneven skin tone.

  • Medium Peels: penetrate deeper into the skin, using trichloroacetic acid (TCA) to target more significant issues like fine lines and moderate sun damage.

  • Deep Peels: more intense using stronger active ingredients to treat deeper wrinkles and more severe skin damage.

AT A GLANCE: CHEMICAL PEEL

A chemical peel session usually lasts between 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the type of peel being performed and the areas being treated. This includes the preparation of the skin, application of the chemical solution, and post-treatment evaluation.

Downtime varies depending on the depth of the peel. For the light peels, there is little to no downtime, with some mild redness or flaking. Medium peels may require 3 to 5 days of recovery, during which the skin may appear red and where skin may experience peeling. Deep peels can involve a longer recovery period, for up to two weeks or more, with significant peeling and redness.

Results from chemical peels can typically be seen within a week for the light peels, as the skin begins to shed and reveal a brighter, more even complexion. Medium and deep peels may take longer to show full results, often within 2 to 4 weeks, as the skin heals and regenerates. Our skin experts may recommend at least 3-6 sessions and maintenance sessions to have optimal results of chemical peel treatment depending on each individual.

patients may experience a warm or tingling sensation during the treatment as the chemical solution is applied. After the procedure, the skin may appear slightly red and sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. Patients should expect some degree of peeling, which is a normal part of the healing process, especially with medium to deep peels.

  • Avoid touching the treated area for at least 6 hours post-treatment to prevent infection and irritation.
  • Avoid sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+ or higher) to protect the newly sensitive skin.
  • Use only gentle skincare products and avoid exfoliating treatments, active skin care, such as retinoids and make up for a few days.
  • Keep skin hydrated, apply moisturiser as needed and Avoid peeling the skin to Allow The Skin To Heal Properly.
  • Avoid any facial treatments for the next one week.

Your Questions, Answered

Chemical peels can be suitable for a variety of skin types, but the specific type of peel and its strength must be carefully chosen based on individual skin characteristics and concerns. Light peels are generally safe for most skin types, including sensitive skin. Medium and deep peels, however, may not be suitable for everyone. Our skin experts will provide a thorough consultation to assess your skin type, discuss your specific concerns, and determine the best treatment plan tailored to your needs.

For most people, 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart are recommended for noticeable results from chemical peel. The exact number of sessions needed can vary based on individual skin concerns, goals, and the type of peel used. Our skin Experts will provide a thorough skin consultation before proceeding with a chemical peel treatment.

Prior to your treatment, it’s essential to avoid sun exposure and discontinue the use of certain products, such as retinoids or exfoliants, for a week or two. If possible, refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol at least a few days prior to your treatment as they can dehydrate your skin and affect healing. Our skincare professional will provide specific instructions tailored to your skin type and the type of peel you’ll receive upon booking.

While chemical peels are generally safe, potential side effects can include redness, peeling, swelling, or dryness.

The longevity of results varies based on the type of peel and individual skin factors. Light peels may require maintenance every 3-6 months, while medium and deep peels can provide more lasting improvements, often lasting 6 months to a year with proper skincare and maintenance.
